MAYCO BASE WLA-88 is a light color, sulfur free, zinc free way lubricant additive that provides the compound/blender with a cost effective approach towards the development of a premium grade lubricant for slideway applications.
MAYCO BASE WLA-88 delivers an excellent source of EP and AW properties, a high level of lubricity critical for proper stick-slip characteristics, and anti-oxidant for long life.
MAYCO BASE WLA-88 is formulated to be readily rejected by metalworking coolants for easy sump removal, as well as resist water wash-off by the spray and contact by these fluids. Complete oil/ water separation is achieved in ASTM D-1401 demulsibility test, when used at 1.5% in an ISO 68 oil blend.
MAYCO BASE WLA-88 is recommended at a treat level of 1.5% (w/w) in a paraffinic oil blend meeting a ISO grade required by the particular machining center. Typically, this would be an ISO68 viscosity grade. Finally, a small additional amount of tackifier @ 0.5% is required for proper oil adhesion to the ways. This blend passes the Cincinnati Milacron stick/slip test with a value of 0.77.
